Kia ora e te whānau,
Happy last Friday of the term everyone. Isn’t that a crazy thought? Lots on at the moment…
Strike in Schools:
Not that kind of Strike! They are a percussion group that came and performed for us on Wednesday. Check out the pics above or video here. Hopefully it inspired our kids to get into a bit of drumming or maybe sign up for Epic lessons with Oscar next term.
Te Whānau Māori:
Whakawhetai to the whānau who came and shared a kai and a korero last night at our first Te Whānau Māori hui of the year last night. A great chance to share and reflect on our journey in Te Ao Māori so far and where we wish to head. A Facebook Group has been set up if you want to keep up with the pānui in this space.
Hot Cross Bun Fundraiser:
Have you ordered your delicious HCB’s yet? If not, please fill out the form by 3pm TODAY and pay the money into the Turitea School PTA bank account: Westpac 03-0726-0572366-01. Remember we make back $1 for every packet sold. Orders will be available for collection from 2.30pm on Wednesday 5th April.
Bike Safety for Year 5/6:
We had a couple of students who were unable to ride a bike confidently at the start of the week that were able to by the end of the week – Love that growth! The Year 6’s had a fab day out yesterday as you can see from the pics above cruising around the streets, the Esplanade and down by the river with Cameron and the team. Thank you to the parents who helped transport children and bikes to or from the venue and also to Erin and Phil from Sport Manawatū for their leadership.
Swimming Pool Closes:
Thank you to those of you who purchased pool keys to use for the swimming season. If you could please arrange to return these to the office, we would appreciate this. Ben and Wei, massive thanks from all of the Turitea Community for checking the chlorine levels frequently and keeping our pool safe, clean and open.
Linton Country School:
As you may have heard that Linton Country School has closed its doors for good. Their outgoing principal Katy Marsh has kindly donated most of their junior play equipment and sports gear to us. Ka rawe Katy!
Health/PE Student Teachers:
Today Kahikatea and Tōtara classes headed back to Massey to work with the Health/PE Students. They have two more sessions with them next term, but none next week due to Good Friday.
Manawatū Striders Road Race:
All the best to our speedsters Grace, Natalie, Juliette, Asher and Richie who represent Turitea School at the Year 5/6 Road Race next Tuesday. Karawhiua (Give it heaps)
Kelly Sports Afterschool Programme:
Craig and his team are looking to continue this next term again on a Tuesday afternoon. More information found here and you can book online here
Yummy Fruit Stickers:
Thanks to those of you who collect the Yummy Fruit stickers, which helps give us free sports gear. If you buy Yummy Fruit and know nothing about this, all you have to do is get your child to peel the stickers off the fruit and stick them on these sheets here or here or come grab one from the office. Happy collecting!
