End of Week 6 Pānui 2022

Tēnā Koutou Katoa,

As another week comes to a close here, I want you to know how much I am loving being the Tumuaki/Principal of your kura. I feel fortunate to lead such a fantastic group of teachers and learners! Thank you all for your support and compassion you are showing through some challenging times across our country. It has made my transition smooth as.

PTA Meeting:

The next PTA meeting is all set for Wednesday 23rd March at 7pm in the Hall (so we can socially distance). All welcome to attend. A big focus will be around sorting jobs and organisation of the Beautification Day which is on Saturday 26th March. Monster Dress Up Day is all locked in for Friday 1st April, so we are looking forward to seeing some amazing costumes. I have a few cool prizes to give out for those who have gone the extra mile…

Teaching Assistant Position:

Earlier in the week we filled the Teaching Assistant vacancy I had advertised a few weeks back. We are delighted to announce that Aimi Morris will be joining #TeamTuritea from Term 2. You may know her as Ava in Kauri and Isla in Rimu’s mum. Looking forward to having you on our waka Aimi.

Sports:

Next Wednesday Abigail, Ruby, Callum, Grace and Bachir are representing Turitea at the Interschool Triathlon. Karawhiua tamariki! – Give it your best! Then on Thursday we are taking our swim team to Cluster Swimming. All the best to Richie, Leah, Hoani, Ada, Rosalie, Finn, Jethro, Kiara, Myah, Grace, Ruby, Antonio, Callum and Khobe. Sad for Elias who has had to pull out due to illness. Kaukau ana te haere koutou! – Swim flat out team!

Covid Update:

Not that dirty word again… But just wanted to remind you of the change to isolation of household contacts which kicks in tonight reducing the stand down period from 10 days to 7 days. We appreciate your support in still keeping kids home if they are sick or showing any of Covid-Like Symptoms. KidsHealth has dropped a bunch of new resources if you are interested around caring for children with Covid or why masks and airflow matters.

Technics Music:

There are spaces available if you would like your child to be involved in this. You can email Heather at harmonyhouse@xtra.co.nz or call her on 027 245 2780 for more information.

Blood Drive:

A reminder to support the NZ Blood Service to come and give blood if you can at Massey University at the Student Lounge on the 14th/15th March between 9.30-3pm.

Pool Cover:

It has been awesome to see so many whānau using our pool recently. Just a reminder that the cover needs to be away from the white suckers to make sure the water filters properly.

Y-Kids April Holiday Programme:

Bookings are now open for our Y Kids programme, with a 10% early bird discount for every child registered before 27th March. They offer a variety of fun activities ranging from trips, craft as well as sports and games. Click here for more information.

For those parents who live and work in town and the Y! isn’t an option for you, the Lido would like to offer a drop off service if we have enough numbers to warrant the drop off. It costs $19 from 6.30am and $16 from 7am and includes breakfast and drop off to school. Contact Corrin (Jackson’s Mum) if you are interested at chickiec@hotmail.com

We have a bunch of filing cabinets that potentially will go in the skip. If you are interested in one for some extra storage around the house, flick me a message.

Kia pai tō rā whakatā (Enjoy the weekend)
