Kia Ora Whānau,
Just like that, we are another week down whānau. It has been a cracker of a week with some massive temperatures, making our aircon units work overtime! Our students and teachers in Year 4-6 are doing so well with the mask wearing mandate despite this heat. I am really happy with the start to the year that we are all having and the vibe around school is simply beautiful. You are such a caring community and I am loving making connections with you all. The popular whakataukī/proverb ‘He Waka Eke Noa’ comes to mind here, meaning we are all in this together. Couple of updates from me.
Pickup/Drop Off:
Turitea School community, you are amazing! This has been going so smoothly, thank you all for the part you play in this. I know it is a challenge to find a park and wait for us to send you your children etc but we really appreciate your support in this.
School Lunches:
Kids enjoyed their first Subway lunches today and Paul was stoked to have us back in 2022. Check out Lunchonline to get sorted for next week and every week thereafter. Just a reminder that the cut off is 9am Friday for orders to avoid disappointment.
Juicy Club:
Great to have so many people behind the Juicy Club at lunchtimes, especially in this hot weather. Massive thanks to Anna from the PTA, Trish and the team of Kids from Kauri class who have given up their lunchtime to run this. Ka rawe (Awesome!) We still have plenty of cards available for $10 for 6 Juicies if you want one for your child/ren.
Beautification Day:
You might have noticed about me that I like things ‘clean, neat and nice’ and there are a few things around the place that are looking a bit tired, so we want to freshen them up! We have tentatively set Saturday 26th March to be a Beautification Day. We will compile a list of jobs and flick these out and hopefully you might be willing to pitch in and give us a hand (even if it’s just for a few hours) to get the school looking amazing! More information to follow so watch this space.
School Donations/Activity Fee:
Kia ora to those of you who have already paid these online, we really do appreciate your promptness.
Property Updates
Our classroom upgrades got the final sign off this morning! So Matai and Rātā are able to move back into their rooms next week, once it has had the ‘spit shine’ (OG Space Jam reference if you got it?) There will be some happy teachers and students.
Sports:
We still have spaces available for your child to play either Hockey or Netball for the term ahead. Sign up for Netball here and Hockey here. All the information about this can be found on these links.
That’s all from me, please email me if you have any questions as I would love to say my door is always open, but given the Red Level, I can’t really do that. Thanks again for your support and kindness. It makes me love coming to work everyday.
