End of Week 8 Term 2 Pānui

Kia ora e te whānau,

Isn’t this weather a welcomed return? Look at the beautiful blue sky that our Ki O Rahi team had today for their tournament this morning! They had a fab morning playing against 11 other schools in the annual tournament run by Kelly Sports. Let’s hope it keeps this up over the Matariki long weekend which starts now.

Board Elections:

We had our second board meeting for the term on Tuesday night and hot on our agenda was talking about the upcoming elections and our duty to keep you in the loop around this. We have created a form to request a phone call or schedule a meeting if you are undecided over whether or not you might be interested in this role. Please fill this out if you would like some more information and we look forward to being in touch.

2023 Enrolments:

July 1st every year is a vitally important day for schools as we have to provide the Ministry of Education with data for the following year about our projected role. This number is crucial as it affects how many teachers we can employ, how many units of extra responsibility we can give out and most of all how much funding we receive from them to run our school. We have a pre-enrol form which is on our school website to give us an indication of the student numbers to expect so we can let the MoE know to staff us accordingly. If you have a younger child that you’d like to attend Turitea any time in the future, please let us know via this form.

Open Days for Year 6’s:

I know it probably seems too early to start thinking about this, but the local intermediate schools are starting to have their open days/evenings next term. Longburn Adventist College (LAC) is the first to go with their open day on Tuesday 2nd August if you are interested. Palmerston North Intermediate Normal School (PNINS) has their first open day on Thursday 4th August at 9am. They will bus all of our Year 6 students to and from PNINS. More information to follow.

Turf:

Our turf is finally finished! However we have to keep off of it until the underside has had a chance to dry out given all the rain we’ve had. We will aim to officially open it next week. Watch this space…

From the PTA:

This Monday is the last day to order pies for your whānau. Order via this form if you would still like to get in on this opportunity.
