End of Week 7 Term 2 Pānui

Kia ora e te whānau,

Sorry this is a day later than usual, I’ve been hit by a bad dose of the flu like many people are at the moment. Thankfully today I’m feeling a bit more alive. I have to give a huge thanks to all the people who supported our Marae visits this week. What a fantastic two days we shared there together! I know the weather wasn’t ideal, but we made the most of being together. As I mentioned on Monday night, I was a really proud tumuaki to have the turn out we did to support our Matariki Celebration. There was a beautiful article published on Stuff about our time also.

From the PTA:

Thanks to those who came to the Pool Party last Saturday night. It was a really nice evening with our kids having a great time. Here is the form to order pies for your whānau. All proceeds support the school. We have paper copies on request at the office or email Julie for a sheet.

Board Elections:

I have been talking to this a lot in recent pānui, so you might ask what does the Board of Trustees do? Trustees work together to make sure every child reaches their highest possible standard in educational achievement. They also work with the principal and consult with staff, students and the community. They help set the educational goals and strategic direction of the school. They monitor progress and let parents know how the school is progressing against its annual targets and how well students are achieving. If you are interested in standing for the Board Elections in September, please let me know.

Ki O Rahi Tournament:

This week on Thursday, we have a team of Year 5/6’s who are competing in the Kelly Sports Ki O Rahi tournament at Cloverlea Park. Ki O Rahi is a traditional Māori sport on the rise. Ka mau te wehi (Awesome)  to our team of Khobe, Finn, Sienna, Abigail, Myah, Rosalie, Leah, Richie, Izzy, Callum, Solomon, Bachir, Jethro and Theo. Check out this poster for more information.

Yummy Apple Stickers:

Thanks to those of you who collect these for us as it gives us free sports gear. We have sheets to collect the stickers on in the office or you can download them here.

Activity Fee:

We are still working out the costs of the Marae visits, but this will just come off the activity fee that we ask you to pay. These are $10 per term or you can pay the full $40 for the year.

With the school holidays right around the corner, check out what the Y! has to offer here.
