My name is Troy Duckworth and I started my journey as the principal here in January 2022. I came from Russell Street School where I was the Deputy Principal for 4 years and a teacher there for 7 years. I come to Palmy by way of South Auckland where I was born and bred. I’ve also taught overseas in Dubai and Brunei Darussalam.
I come from a lineage of educational leadership as both my parents were proud principals in Auckland. I pride myself on building relationships with everyone, which ties in nicely to one of our school uara (values) of whanaungatanga. I’m a huge believer of the whakataukī (proverb) ‘Mā te pā te tamaiti e whakatipu’ - It takes a village to raise the child and want that for all here at Turitea School.
I am pretty easy to find around here and you will usually hear me before you see me. I love sour lollies and shoes. You'll always find me rocking a pair of Jordans. I'm a massive fan of the NBA, (Phoenix Suns - Rally The Valley) the UFC and the Formula 1. I love having a yarn with those who are passionate about those things too.
